From Tarragona toValencia
Our next route was to Valencia on the E17/AP7. We pulled
into a fuel station to see if they sold LPG (they didn’t), and one of the
garage cleaners pointed out that one of the ratchet straps had come off the
bike and was dragging on the ground. Fortunately, the bike was still solidly on
the stand but the metal on the strap had been worn away quite a bit so must
have been dragging on the ground for some time.

Steve sorted that out and we
were on our way again. Nice trip to
Valencia Camper Park at Betera. Very large gravel pitches and lovely helpful
people at reception. There is a metro station 5 minutes’ walk away and you can
buy your tickets at reception and you can actually watch a video explaining how
it works. Lovely restaurant there with a great variety of tapas and meals-good
showers and toilets, easy area to collect and drop off water and plenty of
space. It was quite expensive 27 euros a night but so nice to have space and
friendly staff.
We caught the metro into town which was really easy and took about 25 minutes to get to the town centre. We spent the whole day
exploring the sights and taking photos. One day is not long enough as there is a great deal to see-so we intend to come back again and see some of the museums.

Central
Market was a lovely building with a beautiful ceiling and was full of a
variety of stalls selling just about everything! The different smells
of food and spices was amazing!

Lots of people there doing the same
thing, all checking their phones for directions 😊.
The fountain in the Virgin Plaza was amazing and we spent some time sat here people watching and relaxing to the sound of the running water.

Graffeti |
Graffiti covered a lot of the buildings and doors, which is such a shame-but it seems to be in most cities and towns now.

The Serranos Towers are considered to be the
largest Gothic city gateway in all of Europe, and were constructed at
the end of the 14th century by Pere Balaguer .
